Who are the Croton Dems?
The Croton Dems are all the Democrats in the village, the true grass roots of the Democratic Party. In order to get things done, we have an elected committee, organized under local by-laws, of 18 district leaders, two for each election district in the village, with a chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary.
The main task of the committee is to arrange by caucus for the nomination of candidates for local office and then to support the candidates in their bid for election. The committee also plays a political role at the town and county level as the district leaders are members of the Cortlandt Democratic Committee and the Westchester County Democratic Committee. Along with many other Democrats, they have a say in the selection and campaigns of state and federal candidates.
The committee also provides a forum for the discussion of issues, a place to hear from elected officials, and a way to join in political activity with like-minded people in neighboring areas.
We welcome new Committee members. If you are interested in becoming active in Croton’s Democratic Committee, contact our chair, John McBride at: chair@crotondems.org
There is a Croton-on-Hudson Democratic Party e-mail listserve. Here you can become an active participant in the democratic process. The list is usually low volume, although it gets busier during election season. You can join in discussions about what is going on in the village and what you would like your Croton Democratic Party to do and be. If you wish to be added to the Croton Dems email list, contact the webmaster at:webmaster@crotondems.org
