The annual Democratic Soup Supper was enjoyed by a crowd of well over 100 brave souls who “weathered the awful weather” to show support for our candidates, Leo, Ian and Casey. It required real dedication to come out in the torrential downpour, but it was well worth the effort. The soups were extraordinary and the cakes and sweets were decadent and satisfied the sweetest of sweet teeth.
The real significance, however, was in the value added by having our candidates hear directly from voters. Multiple discussions around the room centered around the many accomplishments of our Democratic board and their exciting plans for the future. Our candidates listened as they mixed with a veritable cross section of Croton voters, and visiting dignitaries as well. Particularly exciting was meeting and greeting so many newcomers to Croton. They are an energetic bunch and anxious to be involved in working for their chosen hometown. They expressed strong gratitude for the Democrats’ success at reducing village taxes, support for the Harmon Improvement rezoning, thanks for the Farmer’s Market and the Community Garden and a desire for expansion of both these unique quality of life benefits. The abundance of optimism for the future was healthy, upbeat and very welcomed.
We’ve accomplished a lot but still have a way to go. Based on the enthusiasm and encouragement we received from our many friends and neighbors at this year’s Democratic Soup Supper, we are confident in our ability to continue moving ahead.
Make sure to vote for Leo, Ian and Casey next Wednesday, March 15th at the Municipal Building. We count on your support and promise to look forward to serving you as we work with you to achieve even more in the weeks and months ahead.
